Computerized Bite Evaluation
Dr. Strauss now has new computerized technology that can provide very detailed information about the status of your muscles and joints. Through computerized jaw tracking, Dr. Strauss can measure and study the pattern of the jaw opening through its full range of motion. Another test is electromyography ( EMG) to provide information on the activity of important muscles which control the jaw. Finally, sonography (using sound) is also available with this technology enabling Dr. Strauss to precisely record joint sounds which can be studied later. Dr. Strauss can then make a diagnosis and treatment recommendations based of the test's findings. If it has been determined that your habitual bite is the cause of your dysfunction or pain, Dr. Strauss then through the use of the Myomonitor determines your neuromuscular position by relaxing the muscles. Treatment decisions are then based on this new bite position. See Neuromuscular Dentistry for more information.Using the Myomonitor.
